"Breaking and entering? That's against
everything that Nixon stood for."
- Security Guard (Brian Huskey)

Plot:

BoJack Horseman (Will Arnett) comes back from a hiatus to discover that the Secretariat movie is unable to film an integral Nixon scene. With the help of Kelsey Jannings (Maria Bamford), he decides to create a heist to the Nixon Library to get the final shot with help from Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins), Todd (Aaron Paul), Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris) and Character Actress Margot Martindale. Meanwhile, Diane Nguyen (Allison Brie) is discovering that working for Sebastian St. Clair (Keegan Michael-Key) isn't all that great, especially as they begin to get attacked. Princess Carolyn tries to contemplate if she still feels any joy from working at the job and hallucinates while looking at a painting that reinvigorates her interest. BoJack gets the Nixon shot, but Jerry Turtletaub (J.K. Simmons) decides to fire her for going against his orders. Diane decides to stay with BoJack for awhile.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Flashback

Along with a look into the life of Secretariat, we get another look at a very young BoJack having to deal with his mother. When he steals her cigarette, she demands that he smokes it before claiming that he is only doing so to punish him for existing. Meanwhile, Secretariat meets with Nixon, who wants him to go to Vietnam. When he refuses, Nixon sends his brother Jeffretariat in his place. He tragically accepts, believing that Secretariat's involvement in the war wouldn't really do him any good.

Secondary Character MVP:
Character Actress Margot Martindale

It has been awhile since we last saw Character Actress Margot Martindale. She was such a major character in the back half of season one, that it is impossible to forget her. Her exaggerated persona is such a perfect fit for the show and she doesn't disappoint with her turn. While out of prison for no more than two minutes, she joins the heist and ends up doing a one-woman fight against the police when things go horribly awry. It is funny, great, and hopefully the start of more small great moments from one of the series' best guest stars.

Best Joke

With Mr. Peanutbutter being a big hot shot, he has to do promos for various cities around the country. While he is very limited on information, he decides to riff on various topics that he thinks are relative to the cities including the bears and rain. It is mostly in his delivery that makes the lines funnier and his cluelessness all the more endearing.

Overall Thoughts

This episode is simply ridiculous. Every last frame of it is so full of great small moments that it is impossible to hate. There's a lot of humor based around Nixon and film making in ways that actually effectively advance the story. The gag in which Princess Carolyn gets lost in a painting is actually very inspired. The return of Character Actress Margot Martindale puts this over the top with greatness. However, what makes it really a strong contender is that it never loses focus on the fact that these are characters with real motivations. Everyone has their own melancholy moment at the end that makes the prior absurdity all the more compelling.
