After an impressive first season that chronicled one of the best new ensembles solving problems and forming unexpected relationships, the series is back to tackle bigger things. Crime of the Week: The precinct decides to spend a weekend away from work at Boyle's (Joe Lo Truglio) beach house.

Peralta Problem: After feeling sympathy for Holt (Andre Braugher), Peralta (Andy Samberg) must find a way to make everyone fine with their boss showing up to the party.

Subplot of the Week: Gina (Chelsea Peretti) wants to get Santiago (Melissa Fumero) drunk to a level that she has never been before.
Best Joke: After Peralta feels suspicion that Holt spilled food on his pants, he tries to covertly find out if it was true. Right as he finds out, he ends up spilling food on himself and thus falling into the same position as Holt.
Culprit: Everyone is guilty, though Holt admits that he is especially wrong for deciding to barge his way into a party that was meant as a get away from him.
Resolution: Everyone has a good time. Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) manages to text her boyfriend without help of Boyle. Holt decides to give in and have a good time.
Verdict: The reason that the episode works is because of Holt. While he has always been reliable for his deadpan delivery, he has always been effective when he manages to appeal to his precinct. He may at times seem like a bullish boss, but when Peralta gives in and allows him to have some fun, there's always something more endearing. It is especially great to see how the team deals with the awkward situation. Also, six drunk Amy is a rather enjoyable invention of the show that hopefully won't be overused in the future. It is a great ensemble episode and one of the better episodes of the season. It is funny and endearing in equal doses.
