Welcome to a new recap series on the IFC series Maron in which comedian/podcaster Marc Maron lives life and tries to learn how to be a better person. To pay homage to the series, these recaps will be released on Fridays and chronicle the various life lessons that are presented in the 30 minute format on a weekly basis as well as a meter that determines just how angry our protagonist seems to be. Join us as we tackle the psyche of the popular angry man and pray that he doesn't lose it entirely.
Plot: After interviewing Rachel Harris, Maron decides to attend a yoga class with her that has a creepy teacher.

Guests Review: It is one of the more limited episodes of the season so far with only three central guests. Josh Brener is back as Kyle with all of the absurd trappings still in tow. When he talks about Jeremy's (Seth Morris) ability to ejaculate on command, he has a strange, endearing fascination. Even then, it is the Maron-Rachel-Jeremy triangle that makes the episode so strong that it makes all of the comedy work. With Jeremy being a coked-up loser actor, it adds an endearing amount of ammunition for Maron to take down his guests. Even Rachel, who gets not that much to do, is great in the way that she could have potentially been Maron's next girlfriend. She is optimistic and forgiving of Maron's problems. However, Jeremy is still a lunatic who ruins everything, so things will likely not work out.

Anger Meter: 6 (out of 10)
Maron is noticeably annoyed by Jeremy's inability to function as a human. Even then, he isn't really that frustrated beyond the fact that he plans to sleep with Rachel. He has a small outburst at the end, but otherwise, he is rather lax. The juxtaposition of him getting flustered at a yoga place is rather comical. Otherwise, it is a lot of yelling at Kyle, which is great for some laughs. Even then, he seems a little too mellow and is unable to really feel much empathy for losing Rachel to Jeremy.

We Good?: Another really solid episode that is only benefited by the presence of Kyle. While he does seem like a random person to have on, he does play the young flake very well and has only gotten better at it. Jeremy's crazy yoga persona is another effective element in that he poses a legitimate threat to Maron not because of ridiculous reasons, but that Maron is once again the sanest person in the room. It doesn't quite add up in the end, but that is the frustration to his life and it isn't the worst thing to happen to him this season. Either way, the writing is becoming more confident and the yoga scenes have a particular personal touch to it that makes the comedy land a lot better and the chemistry between cast members has vastly improved. It plays with the best of the episodes, and all while it appears that Maron is moving away from the inner monologues that run through the episodes. I am not sure if I miss it yet, but I do think it added authenticity to the series.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5
