Left to right: Javier Grajeda, Mark Margolis,
Luis and Daniel Moncada
Are you tired of long, tedious accounts of Breaking Bad episode recaps? Then look no further than Breaking Half: a weekly column that takes the good and bad from each week's episode of Breaking Bad and dilutes it down to the core necessities. Each Monday, Breaking Half will attempt to take a few key moments from the episode and boil it down to one juicy paragraph.

Season 3, Episode 3
"I.F.T."

"Please. Please. This money, I didn't steal it. It doesn't belong to anyone else. I earned it. The things I've...done to earn it...they...the things I've had to do...I've got to live with them. Skyler, all that I've done, all the sacrifices that I've made for this family, all of it, will be for nothing if you don't accept what I've earned. Please. I'll be here when you get home from work. You can give me your answer then."
-Walter (Bryan Cranston

Walter (Bryan Cranston) sneaks back into his house and this causes Skyler (Anna Gunn) to call the police on him. However, since he hasn't done anything legally wrong, he cannot be kicked out. Walter tries to persuade Skyler to let him stay because of the money that he is making for his family. She consults her lawyer (Julie Dretzen) and informs her that Walter is a meth dealer. Meanwhile, Hank (Dean Norris) is promised a job back in El Paso and decides to go drinking with Gomez (Steven Michael Quezada). This results in a fist fight over a presumed drug deal, which causes him to get complaints back at the office. Jesse (Aaron Paul) is grieving over Jane's death and calling her voice mail. After Saul (Bob Odenkirk) informs him that he is trying to get the meth business started up again, he refuses. He only gives in when Jane's voice mail has been disconnected. The Cousins (Daniel and Luis Moncada) get Tio (Mark Margolis) and their boss Juan (Javier Grajada) to a meeting with Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) over his partnership with Heisenberg. Supposedly they are angry that Heisenberg killed their relative Tuco and wants him to cease business with him. However, Gus refuses for the time being and demands that nobody messes with him. No promises were made. As things are getting back together at the White residence, Skyler drops a bombshell on Walter, claiming that she fucked Ted (Christopher Cousins).

Rating: 4 out of 5

Left to right: Anna Gunn and Bryan Cranston
MVP: Skyler (Anna Gunn)
If this episode had one hero, it was Skyler. Up until now, she has been a raging ball of repression. In this episode, she takes leaps and bounds to try and set her life straight. After calling the cops and proving her dominance, she also consults her lawyer about Walter's criminal lifestyle. The building blocks are in place for a grandiose fall for Walter, provided that she goes through with it. Still, she refuses to on the basis that she wants to care for her children. It is a tough corner to be in and as she has to deal with Walter, she finally snaps. She has sex with Ted and boldly sticks it in Walter's face. Skyler stands up for herself in this episode and becomes the somewhat independent character that we hope she becomes for the rest of the series.

Best scene: Without a doubt, everything was building to those final moments of "I.F.T." With three simple words, she managed to disarm Walter's confidence and prove that she is tired of his shenanigans. While it is possible that this is referencing only one time, which was seen in the episode, it is possible that this is a small clue into an even bigger promiscuity. Ted and Skyler seem very close in a certain way and it seems possible that this could have been going on for quite some time. Maybe even to the point where Holly is Ted's child? Either way, the amount of weight that "I fucked Ted" carries on the overall episode leaves you wondering what the next move is and if this will be the moment that breaks the family apart.
