Welcome to Inventory: a monthly column in which we take a moment to look back at the past few weeks and highlight articles that I have written that may be worth a second glance. From the archives of Optigrab, The Oscar Buzz, and CinemaBeach, the following is what I feel to be the Top 10 articles that I have written in any given month and feel the need to highlight. Also covered will be any known details on what will be coming up in the month ahead. So without further ado, let's take inventory and see what I have to say.

Comments: This documentary is a very engaging and informative story of how Jennifer Conrad became an important voice in raising awareness on the defects of cat declawing. For those interested, please check out their website and look for the film when it opens in the Fall (no date available).

Comments: This is a new page that I have started with Mike of Mike's Reviews, who started off as a friend in The Oscar Buzz comments section. We have decided to start a page in which we debate films and let readers determine who they agree with. Please join us as we share out opinions on how the new Star Wars film should go under the watchful eye of J.J. Abrams (Mike's post is located here).

Comments: It may only be the second episode in Christopher Guest's brand new show, but it already promises to be one of the best new comedies on TV with the most outlandish concepts imaginable. Chris O'Dowd's journey to discover out who his great grandfather really was has been one of the most compelling puzzles of the past few weeks and the more you find out, the more ridiculous it seems, especially in comparison to a costumed animal race.

Comments: While I would go on to give The Great Gatsby film a highly favorable review, there was no getting around the terrible soundtrack filled with terrible kitsch from the likes of will.i.am, Fergie, and the most mind-numbing of all: a Jay-Z song that can't get the facts straight. There are a few good songs on here, but it does raise a great question in regards to what should pass for anachronistic music.

Comments: It is already out and people will think what they want, but I have a generally fatigued reaction to the return of Arrested Development. While it is beloved and I do find it funny, I believe that the desire to always get more will only result in essentially being let down.

Article: Review: The Great Gatsby is a Great Looking Luhrmann Film but a Decent Fitzgerald Adaptation

Comments: While I don't consider The Great Gatsby to be a masterpiece, there are numerous aspects of it to love, including the idea that Leonardo DiCaprio is an early Best Actor candidate. I feel like the film has been criminally attacked and while maybe a little bit hollow, is nonetheless an enjoyable piece of entertainment that manages to work despite a lackluster soundtrack.

Comments: Continuing a long search through most of the Comedy Central freshmen series is a stop by Inside Amy Schumer. While I do not particularly find her funny, I spend the post raising theoretical questions on what exactly works and doesn't work in regards to comedy in the modern era.

Comments: While it is well known by everyone that This is 40 may not be the greatest of movies, there is a particular element that may make the film a time capsule of the modern era. While it is presented in a vapid format, I take a look at how the technology, communication, and even school systems impact the film as well as how it paints the most honest portrait of today's American society, even if it is still an awful film.

Comments: It has been a long, strange season of Bob's Burgers that has not only elevated the show, but raised the level of what should pass on modern satire, whether it be a parody of E.T. or Jaws. There's nothing that the show hasn't been able to achieve, though with varying degrees of success, and has managed to become the one show on TV that is not only hilarious, but also one deserving of more respect, if just for being different.

Comments: While summer is just beginning to turn out crazy blockbusters, it is easy to overlook the potential Oscar-worthy films, ranging from The World's End to The Bling Ring and The Butler. While this is more speculation than evidence based in fact, I really hope that some of these predictions turn out to be true.
