Welcome to the TV Recap series on the FXX original series You're the Worst. Join me every Thursday to unravel the chaos of TV's greatest/worst romantic couple as they try to get their lives together. "Work smart, not hard, Jimmy."
- Gretchen (Aya Cash)
Everyone goes on their own journey as Gretchen (Aya Cash) is accused for talking to people too much on the phone. Jimmy (Chris Geere) hangs out with a prestigious writer. Gretchen deals with Honey Nutz (Allen Maldonado), who is growing sad when his cohorts release music without him. Lindsay (Kether Donohue) becomes depressed after discovering that everyone else is happier with a romantic partner and that her divorce to Paul (Allan McLeod) is official now. Jimmy discovers that his writer idol is a hack. Edgar (Desmin Borges) works up the confidence to ask out Lindsay after taking an improv class. It doesn't go well. Honey Nutz and his crew are now in a turf war thanks to false reports made by Pitchfork. Gretchen leaves Jimmy's house, annoyed that he is setting certain guidelines about their habitation.

It doesn't do anyone a service in this episode. Gretchen must learn to deal with her clientele as they become caught in a misunderstood war with each other. Meanwhile, Lindsay grows depressed watching old videos she took with Paul. Meanwhile, everyone else must deal with the consequences of this as they learn to communicate in a different format. Maybe Edgar isn't directly influenced by social media this time around, but he cannot get around someone who is immersed in a mental breakdown thanks to it. Everything doesn't look good and yes, maybe it's time to put the phones down. However, it's too tempting to just release those diss tracks and make some news.
Worst Moment
It was looking to solve all of the problems. Yes, for everything that had gone wrong between Honey Nutz and his friends, they were willing to forgive each other. Even with the diss tracks public, they were willing to look beyond it. That is, until the news broke that they hated each other. Instead of being mature, they decided to play it for show and are now looking to at least look like they publicly hate each other. The scene is clumsy and the wording is poor, but it's probably the worst thing you can do when you have public influence in any possible way.
Was This the Worst?
Far from the worst. In fact, it's actually another consistently great episode thanks to a lot of supporting plots that intermingle into something sort of brilliant. While Jimmy's story is likely the weakest, I do think that Gretchen is always benefited by her work stories. Honey Nutz is once again a reliable source for comedy and the boneheaded actions of his peers make for one of the funnier sequences of the season. All in all, it's another entertaining episode that also has a little bit of a dark side. As Edgar becomes more confident, Lindsay becomes more of a mess. The results are inherently absurd in ways that definitely pay off. Here's hoping that they keep pumping out such great episodes.
