Left to right: Marc Maron and C.M. Punk
Welcome to the return of the recap series on the IFC series Maron in which comedian/podcaster Marc Maron lives life and tries to learn how to be a better person. To pay homage to the series, these recaps will be released on Saturdays and chronicle the various life lessons that are presented in the 30 minute format on a weekly basis as well as a meter that determines just how angry our protagonist seems to be. Join us as we tackle the psyche of the popular angry man and pray that he doesn't lose it entirely.

Left to right: Maron and Josh Brener
Plot: Marc decides to quit his addictions in order to live a healthier life as he gets his own show.

A Line That Sums Up the Episode: "Oh my God, I hate my body."

Colt Cabana
Guests Review: It is a wrestler heavy episode with Marc talking to Colt Cabana on the show about getting in shape and working as an independent wrestler. This results in Marc meeting up with C.M. Punk, who is very rational and wants to help Marc get into shape despite Marc's consistent aggravation from being sore. The conflict emerges between the two and yet Punk manages to be the better man despite being the more intimidating man out there. Josh Brener returns as Kevin for a rather effective episode in which he manages to help Marc change, but lose interest when Marc begins insulting him and refuses to allow him to help. He is reliably funny and supportive, even as the things look awful for him.

Anger Meter: 9 (out of 10)
While there isn't much reason to dislike Marc in this episode, he still manages to lash out at the world. His body is giving up on him and he must feel some sort of gratification. As a result, he insults everyone close to him, including a rather traumatic experience where Kevin threatens to quit. However, it does make for a rather humorous incident with Punk that results in him knocking out Marc. It is an anger that is understandable, as he is experiencing a nerve-racking rehabilitation. He is probably the most sympathetic he has been while being angry.

We Good?: As the season winds down, it is interesting to see some major conflict happen to the Maron team. And it is all because of what makes Marc such a compelling character. His anger has been his defining feature, even if he doesn't seem to rely on it too much. When he is angry and trying to become a better person, it results in a whirlwind of conflict that is both some of the show's funniest moments and also its most touching. Who knew that wrestlers were the secret ingredient to finding the impact of Maron? Well, he is going to have an interesting finale to say the least. He needs to repair his life, or we're in for an interesting fourth season.
