The Golden Globe-winning comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns for a second season of hilarity and crime. After an impressive first season that chronicled one of the best new ensembles solving problems and forming unexpected relationships, the series is back to tackle bigger things. Will it be as great as the first season? Crime of the Week: Upon raiding a mob syndicate, Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) must find a missing crime member that escaped the arrest.

Peralta Problem: After helping to take down the mob, he returns to the precinct only to realize that he forgot someone. With the help of Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), he must track him down.

Subplot of the Week: Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) has the precinct do very strange tests around the office that only he understands in order to better their productivity.

Best Joke: In one of the more inspired techniques, the series updates everything that happened between season 1 and this episode through an extensive series of flashbacks that include poor wardrobe selections, why they banned headphones, and the reason that Jeffords (Terry Crews) is wearing signs around his neck.

Culprit: Peralta and Boyle unfortunately did not get the bad guy, who escaped on an airplane an hour before they arrived at the airport.
Resolution: Peralta and Boyle don't get the bad guy. Santiago (Melissa Fumero) continues to not date Peralta on the grounds that she is seeing somebody else. Holt welcomes Peralta back to the police force, even though he failed his mission, which results in him staring into his desk drawer full of maggots. The tests continue as Holt finds that they're doing excellent work.
Verdict: While I gave season 1 positive marks, the amount of time that I have thought about the series since hasn't been that high and my expectations were low. I wish that I kept them high because the series returned with a hilarious vengeance reflecting why its creativity is unsurpassed by most comedies currently out there. It's also interesting to see how Peralta is continuing his career after taking down the mob and not entirely succeeding. There's room for a singular story to develop, or it could go back to case-by-case. Nonetheless, the cast continues to remain strong and the jokes remain excellent. I am glad to have it back and the first episode is surprisingly strong. Welcome back, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Let's hope for another great season.
