And the standouts are:
1. The 40-Year-Old Virgin - A vulgar comedy that manages to mix romance and heart into a movie that otherwise has been done too many times before, making it stand out with authentic pop culture references that haven't been seen since Kevin Smith's work in the 90's.
2. Brokeback Mountain - A good drama that chose to challenge relationships of two cowboys without making it more of a gimmick.
3. March of the Penguins - For every penguin lover, this is a masterpiece and more proof that Morgan Freeman should just narrate every movie from now on.
4. Sin City - One of the best graphic novel adaptations with a unique look and feel that is hard to confuse with any other film. The casting and the narration is top notch and makes anti-heroes cool again.
5. Wedding Crashers - Along with "The 40-Year-Old Virgin", it helped to refuel the R-rated comedy with originality and characters that were not that hard to root for.
